The Post Office has announced that the Cosham branch is at risk of closing.
Cosham is one of the 115 branches now earmarked for closure, as part of the last remaining sites that are directly owned by the Post Office, known as Crown Post Offices.
The post office service located on Cosham High Street is vital for the local community, and it is hugely concerning that the Post Office has announced it’s at risk.
With the closure of so many high street banks and shops, the Cosham Post Office is one of the few places left to bank. This is why it’s always such a busy branch, and I know it’s used by people from all over Portsmouth North, of all ages.
I have launched this petition to show the strength of feeling in the local community and to ensure that Post Office Ltd and other organisations involved pull out all the stops to prevent the closure of this very popular local branch.

I use the Cosham Post Office all the time and it’s never empty. This is a vital community resource and cannot be lost.
At the end of November I retire at last at 66. I enjoy going to the Post Office to top up my British Gas, gas and electric keys I have been topping up for the last 20 years at Hilsea address. I don’t want a smart meter for as long as I can. It’s worked this way for 20 years, even during COVID. It will stop one days exercise and socialising just when I need it. The alternative is using my fingers on a phone. What exercise and social interaction is that?
Cosham needs a Post Office, not all the elderly and people in general have laptops /Internet. And rely on post offices.
Most banks have gone , Lloyd’s only remains and the post office being open until 5 30 means businesses can pay money in their bank account in the Pist office when banks have closed .
This is a response to the possible closing of Cosham post office.
HSBC, Santander and Halifax, 3 banks that I have accounts with have closed their Cosham High St branches. I shop using cash as I need to keep to a budget, and withdraw cash from my bank account via the Post Office. The closure of this branch would be disastrous for us elderly people. The silent generation will all soon be gone and the baby boomers not far behind, until we are all gone we should not be forced to use computer led systems,, especially as we so at risk from scams June Mikulski
Save Cosham post office
Older people need there post office,
